What is the history of Japanese Acupuncture?

The type of Acupuncture that we do here in New York City at the idoCenter is Acupuncture that originated in Mainland China over 3,000 years ago. Historical records show that it was in A.D. 562 (mid-6th century) when a Chinese physician monk officially introduced acupuncture to Japan. Since then, over the past 1,500 years, Japanese acupuncturists and the acupuncturists here in NYC at the idoCenter have been constantly improving and refining the original methods of acupuncture. Our Manhattan spa, focuses on optimizing the health and longevity of our clientele through traditional herbal formulas that have been in existence for centuries. Acupuncture NYC offered here at the idoCenter will utilize the techniques and methods of ancient Japanese acupuncture to heal and rejuvenate our clients.

What is the difference between Japanese and Chinese Acupuncture in New York City?

Although Japanese and Chinese acupuncture share the same principles, Japanese needles are much finer, and the needling techniques are gentler. In the 18th century, master of acupuncture, Waichi Sugiyama, invented the guide tube technique for needle insertion. Japanese acupuncturists in New York City at the iDo Holistic Center use a metal or plastic guide tube to insert these very fine needles into the skin, making the insertion very easy and relatively painless. The guide tube technique also helps keep the needles safe and clean during each insertion. Japanese acupuncturists NYC at the iDo Holistic Center also take the pulse and diagnose each patient’s condition before the needling begins. Our Acupuncturists in New York City provide top notch care and skill when working with our clients and their individual conditions.

What is “Soft Touch” acupuncture needling technique?

Our acupuncturists in NYC use DISPOSABLE NEEDLES, this eliminates the worry of infection. Its an incredibly quick and dexterous method of the one-handed needle insertion technique, many patients claim they experience little to no pain whatsoever!!

  • Asthma, Allergies & Sinus

Asthma, allergies, sinusitis and other respiratory issues are signs of an imbalanced immune system. While Western medicine treatments generally focus on controlling symptoms, acupuncture therapy works to strengthen overall immune function. According to acupuncture theory, blockages, excesses and deficiencies can occur in the body’s meridians and organ systems, causing low immunity and allergic responses. Acupuncture treatment helps address both symptomatic complaints as well as the underlying immune system imbalance.
